Edmund Rice Camps for Kids WA: Covid Vaccinations – Policy Statement
Dear Eddie Ricer,
Edmund Rice Camps for Kids WA (ERCKWA) is committed to the safety and welfare of its camp participants, volunteers, staff, and the wider community.
To this end, the organisation acknowledges current Covid-19 health advice and the Western Australian Government’s policy decisions announced on 20 October 2021 and found here.
ERCKWA identifies with Group 1 as set out in the Government’s vaccination guidance as our services are delivered to remote and at-risk communities. As such, staff and volunteers delivering our programmes in 2022 will need to meet Government requirements and be fully vaccinated by 31 December 2021.
This requirement does not currently apply to participants (kids), but the organisation will continue to monitor the changing environment and promptly provide updates on any developments.
It is apparent that a virus outbreak in WA is being regarded as a probability and unvaccinated camp attendees will be restricted in the event of an outbreak to comply with the Government’s guidance.
ERCKWA acknowledges that everyone has the right to choice, including in relation to the vaccination, but supports the Government’s policy in promoting community wellbeing. ERCKWA also encourages stakeholder education on the vaccination via discussions with medical professionals and Government websites (found here) if desired.
If you have planned to attend camps in 2022 then you will be contacted by ERCKWA staff to provide evidence of the required vaccinations as per the above.
ERCKWA will put in place the necessary procedures to ensure we provide safe opportunities and meet Government requirements.
Should you wish to raise any concerns or if you have any questions relating to this policy statement then please do not hesitate to contact CEO Kevin Knapp to discuss directlfound herey: kknapp@edmundrice.org Mobile: 0414 441 844
Thank you for your understanding and support,
ERCKWA Board and Management
