Stephen Morphett, a long-time volunteer, father, and passionate advocate for Thriive WA, is lacing up his runners and taking on the 2025 Perth Marathon on October 12—all to raise funds for a cause that’s deeply personal.

“Thriive WA (formerly Edmund Rice Camps WA) is a charity incredibly close to my heart. After finishing school, I spent 10 years volunteering on summer and winter camps—experiences that shaped me deeply. The chance to support some of WA’s most at-risk kids and help influence their futures was nothing short of life-changing.” — Stephen Morphett

Thriive WA delivers respite, community connection, and opportunity to children and families facing complex challenges. For Steve, this mission has always been more than just noble—it’s personal.

“Thriive gave me lifelong friendships, leadership skills, and a deep sense of purpose. Now, the journey has come full circle—my middle daughter attends camps for respite and connection, while navigating life with a sibling who has a disability. The joy, confidence, and independence she gains from Thriive fills my heart in ways I can’t fully describe.”

As Steve prepares to tackle 42.2km, his motivation is clear: to ensure that more WA kids and families can access the same life-changing experiences that shaped his journey—both as a young adult and now as a parent.
